Responsible gambling

Only adults aged 18 and over may play, and 20 is the minimum age on a land based casino floor in New Zealand. Treat a deposit as the cost of entertainment, never as money set aside for rent, bills or debt.

The warning signs are chasing a loss with a bigger stake, playing longer than planned and hiding the hours spent in a lobby. Deposit, loss and session limits sit in the account settings of all nine casinos reviewed here: set them before the first spin. A tighter limit applies at once, a looser one waits out a cooling-off period, and self-exclusion closes the account for a fixed term.

Help is free and confidential. Gambling Helpline NZ answers on 0800 654 655 around the clock and takes texts on 8006, the Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand runs counselling, and family members can use either service without the player present.
